Sarah grew up in England obsessed with animals and has had a lifelong fascination with how animals think and why they behave as they do. This led her to a zoology degree and a doctorate in animal behavior (studying Przewalski’s horses in the wild in Mongolia), and a career researching the behavior and ecology of wild animals, specializing in horses. After deepening her knowledge of various positive reinforcement methods with her own animals, she realized that she can share this joyful training by combining her academic expertise with her passion for helping others find the fun in their relationship with their animals.
Sarah’s desire to learn about training and behavior led her to become certified through Absolute Dogs (Pro Dog Trainer + Geek), become a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, and a licensed Un-Chase! trainer. To refine her skills and deepen her knowledge of nosework, she became a World Scent Dog Association instructor and attended both practical days and the online course on Scentwork for Horses, tutored by Rachaël Draaisma.
Sarah gained experience volunteering at Animal Friends Alliance as a K9 Coach, and established her own business, Brenin Behavior, to help animals and their people find solutions to behavior struggles. Sarah believes in using force-free, evidence-based methods to improve relationships between people and their animals.
When not playing with her dog or horse, Sarah enjoys going to breweries with friends and wishes there was more time in the day to curl up with a good book.
